The captured X-Men, Bloody Bess and Beldame arrive in Madripoor to collect slaves, trusting Gambit's idea to go along with them. The other X-Men arrive and the two teams battle, with the captured mutants winning. They are taken to the Slaver's huge complex in an ancient city in Northern China. Phoenix who has used her mutants powers to make them think she had been captured knocks out Voge and frees the Beast. By linking up with Forge the Beast is able to free the X-Men from their slave collars. The free X-Men attack the slavers but the mutant energys power up The Goth and Rogue, having absorbed Gambit's powers, hits him with a card that overloads and kills him. The X-Men free the captives but Rogue is left saddened by what she had to do to in order to win.
