The events of X-Men 2000 must take place in the middle of this
issue after Rogue is appointed leader and before the Goth attack.
The scenes at Harry's Hideaway are out of order with the Rogue's
training and actually occur after X-Men 2000. (Note the sudden
shift in time as well between day and night that doesn't match
what is happening at the Mansion)
After watching Psylocke train in the Danger Room Rogue is
attacked and knocked out. She awakens without her powers, hanging
in an earthquake damaged city and deduces it is a simulation. She
sets a trap for her pursuer who turns out to be Wolverine and
their tussel ends in a stalemate. Wolverine ends the simulation
and Rogue is informed it was a test to make her field leader. She
is shocked but the other X-Men all have their reasons for turning
down the role and she takes it on.
Colossus is at Harry's Hideaway when three mutants, calling
themselves the Goth arrive and begin to mentally enthrall the
customers. Archangel, Thunderbird and Psylocke arrive and find
themselves outmatched. Thunderbird sends a distress flare, which
is detected at the mansion where Rogue, Nightcrawler, Wolverine,
Tessa and Forge are reviewing recent events. Rogue, Nightcrawler
and Wolverine arrive too late and discover that not only have all
the people at Harry's Hideaway suddendly disappeared, but most of
the population of Salem Centre as well.
