Rushing back to the Mansion from the destroyed Muir Island, Moira's condition worsens. While Bishop pilots the plane, Rogue attempts to tend to Moira's injuries with the basic medical knowledge she remembers from absorbing Cecelia Reye's memories recently. Rhane stops Wolverine from killing Mystique, vowing vengence herself. The Beast, Gambit and Colossus return from their successful mission protecting Senator Kelly, although Colossus doesn't share in the happy mood. Cable has stayed behind and he and Kelly have a chat about the future. Flying across the mid-Atlantic ocean Moiras condition continues to degrade but she is adamant that her knowledge about how to cure the legacy virus survives. With great effort she contacts Xavier telepathically. Using Cerebro, Phoenix and Xavier combine their abilities to make contact. Moira passes on the information but with their minds embracing Xavier comes close to dying with Moira. Phoenix calls on Cable to help seperate them. Moira says a final farewell and dies. Cable senses a danger back at Senator Kelly's press conference and returns to his body but it is too late to stop an anti-mutant fanatic from shooting and killing Senator Kelly.
