While securing a base in New York City, the Neo warclan lead by Domina invade a local church and try to kill Nightcrawler. Injured, Nightcrawler teleports away with Jaegar in pursuit, and heads to a local clinic run by former X-Man Cecelia Reyes. Reyes tends to his injuries before Jaegar arrives. Reyes withstands his blows with his forcefield, then Nightcrawler takes over the battle but injured he loses. Before Jaegar can kill him Reyes lashes out with her forcefield and kills Jaegar. The X-Men, working with Project Starcore meanwhile are using their powers to finish off the repairs to the High Evolutionary's space station to make it habitbal to a new crew. With work completed all the X-Men celebrate except Shadowcat who has a date with another astronaut. When she goes to meet him he knocks her out and ties her up, then sets to sabotaging the station. Shadowcat frees herself and warns the others but it is too late to undo his sabotage. The X-Men evacuate the crew off the station to a space shuttle. When a girder breaks loose and threatens the shuttle, Shadowcat phases it safely through but the X-Men are forced to leave her behind. Fortunetly Seth had left a re-entry spacesuit for her, hoping she would come with him when the station was destroyed, which she uses to attempt re-entry.
