The new X-Men attack Magneto but despite some success they are by far outmatched. Even when Wolverine and Cyclops join them, Magneto continues to be victorious until he attempts to kill Wolverine and his powers fail. He then discovers that while he was fighting the X-Men Dazzler had taken Professor X's place on the cross after faking her death with holographic images. Amelia Voght had freed Professor Xavier who then used his mental powers to stop Magneto from accessing his magnetic powers. Magneto gloats that the X-Men are still not ready to kill when suddenly Wolverine stabs him brutally with his claws. Professor X addresses the crowd reinstating his belief that war with humanity is not the way for peace. The next morning back at the mansion, the new X-Men members all leave.
